EduWiki Conference 2014

 Registration is closed for this event
EduWiki Conference 2014 is the third annual conference organised by Wikimedia UK focusing on Education projects.

EduWiki 2014 is a one-day event raising awareness of the educational possibilities of Wikipedia and sister projects, and developing Wikimedia UK's academic engagement. In light of the fact that Wikimania 2014 may be attracting potential delegates away from the EduWiki conference, this year's event is taking the form of a symposium bringing together all those in the Education sector who have benefited directly from WMUK support over the years.

Please do register to join us in Edinburgh!

Point of contact: Toni Sant -

Location: Edinburgh First's St Leonard Hall (University of Edinburgh).

The venue is not wheelchair accessible. To discuss special arrangements for wheelchair access or any other personal assistance please contact by 1 September 2014.

Time: The event will take place from 9:00am, with lunch and refreshments provided.

Cost: £30 full rate; £25 concessions (Wikimedians, students, OAPs, and unemployed people)

Event highlights:

  • A showcase of WMUK-supported Education activities from the past 2+ years;
  • A workshop (or two) for educators who want to explore the use of Wikipedia in the University classroom through the courses extension (including a possible hackathon on the WP Education extension) -- this will also include Campus Ambassadors' training;
  • An opportunity for Wikimedia's Education leaders to follow-up on previous discussions at Wikimania around the new Wiki Education Cooperative (currently in formation).

Further details available on the WMUK website.

Wikimedia UK is the Wikimedia chapter covering the United Kingdom. We exist to help collect, develop and distribute freely licensed knowledge (and other educational, cultural and historic material). We do this by bringing the Wikimedia community in the UK together, and by building links with UK-based cultural institutions, universities, charities and other bodies. We also represent UK-based Wikimedians to the Wikimedia Foundation and the global Wikimedia movement.

Wikimedia UK is a registered charity. We are supported entirely by voluntary donations (principally through the annual Wikimedia fundraiser). Please note that we are a separate organization from the Wikimedia Foundation, and have no control over Wikipedia.
