Wikimania Education Pre-conference

Wikimedia UK and the Wiki Education Foundation are running training sessions for campus ambassadors and educators on 6 and 7 August

Ambassador training

Calling volunteers from around the world who are interested in providing face-to-face support to university students on how to edit Wikipedia, work with academics to incorporate Wikipedia assignments into classrooms, help recruit new Wikipedia contributors on campus, and participate in real life activities in support of free knowledge: You're invited to attend an ambassador training session on Wednesday, 6 August from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the Education Pre-Conference at Wikimania 2014.

Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors can be undergraduate students, graduate students, university staff members, faculty members, or anyone geographically close to a university -- the main qualification is that you must enjoy teaching people and spreading your passion for free knowledge. Campus Ambassadors not attached to Wikipedia teaching assignments can expect to coordinate or participate in recruiting events and outreach.

Wikimedia UK is the Wikimedia chapter covering the United Kingdom. We exist to help collect, develop and distribute freely licensed knowledge (and other educational, cultural and historic material). We do this by bringing the Wikimedia community in the UK together, and by building links with UK-based cultural institutions, universities, charities and other bodies. We also represent UK-based Wikimedians to the Wikimedia Foundation and the global Wikimedia movement.

Wikimedia UK is a registered charity. We are supported entirely by voluntary donations (principally through the annual Wikimedia fundraiser). Please note that we are a separate organization from the Wikimedia Foundation, and have no control over Wikipedia.
