Wikimania Volunteers Preparation Day

Wikimania 2014 is a great opportunity for Wikimedians to get to know the Wikimedia community worldwide. Aside from simply turning up at the event, volunteering is a way of taking this opportunity a step further. Not only does becoming a volunteer give you access to the event as a whole, but it also gives you a chance to help shape the event itself.

This Preparation Day will be part of a two-way process:

Wikimedia UK will

• update volunteers on what is planned for the week of activties;
• provide details of volunteer roles specifically suitable for Wikimedians;
• give details of what volunteers can expect from Wikimedia UK

On the other hand, we see this as a two way process. It is an opportunity for volunteers to:

• put forward suggestions about what they would like to see
• discuss how UK based Wikimedians can works as a team
• particpate in the planning of Wikimania 2014 as we approach the festival itself.

WIkimedia UK will provide travel costs and refreshments for the day.
