Time: The event will take place from 10:00AM, with lunch kindly provided by our hosts the National Maritime Museum.

Cost: Free.

The National Maritime Museum is the world's largest maritime museum, "filled with inspirational stories of exploration and endeavour at sea and packed to the gunwales with intriguing objects and fascinating galleries".

The Board of Longitude were the administrators of rewards for the development of accurate ways to determine longitude, and thereby the sponsors of some major scientific and exploratory discoveries that had a major impact on world history.

Draft Agenda:

Wiki training will be available for those that need it. We hope to have an even mix of expert Wikipedians and experts from the NMM.

How to prepare:

  • If you don't already have one, create a Wikipedia account - en:Special:UserLogin/signup
  • Learn about editing if you like: w:en:Wikipedia:Tutorial, or Getting started on Wikipedia for more information
  • Think about what you would like to edit about - you can even prepare some materials to bring with you on the day
  • It is advisable to bring a laptop computer though we have some spares: tell us on the form if you won't be able to bring one.
  • See the event's page on Wikipedia for more details and feel free to add your username or to suggest articles for improvement.

Wikimedia UK is the Wikimedia chapter covering the United Kingdom. We exist to help collect, develop and distribute freely licensed knowledge (and other educational, cultural and historic material). We do this by bringing the Wikimedia community in the UK together, and by building links with UK-based cultural institutions, universities, charities and other bodies. We also represent UK-based Wikimedians to the Wikimedia Foundation and the global Wikimedia movement.

Wikimedia UK is a registered charity. We are supported entirely by voluntary donations (principally through the annual Wikimedia fundraiser). Please note that we are a separate organization from the Wikimedia Foundation, and have no control over Wikipedia.
