Wikimedia UK, registered as Wiki UK Limited, is the local membership-driven Wikimedia chapter covering the United Kingdom. You can join us!

Wikimedia UK is an independent organization that collects, develops and distributes freely licensed knowledge (and other educational, cultural and historic content). We support the charitable activities of the Wikimedia Foundation, however we do not have control over their projects, including Wikipedia.

Please help us - and the Wikimedia movement as a whole - make knowledge freely accessible to everyone! We focus our activities within the UK. We have run and plan to run initiatives like:

• Partnering with museums and other institutions to make more content available on Wikipedia
• Encouraging media companies to release some of their content under free licenses so it can be used on Wikipedia and similar projects
• Going into schools and educating pupils and teachers on how to make the best of Wikipedia and how to make it better

We need funds in order to reimburse our volunteers for their travel expenses, buy publicity for our initiatives and buy needed supplies to carry them out.
